Quick Reference City Codes & Ordinances

DOGS & CATS:
What laws should someone with pets be aware of?
City Code 93: Animals

We understand that pets run away from time to time, or your dog might be bothered by something which would cause it to bark. We know that sometimes it’s beyond your control and generally you can be given a verbal warning on the incident. But in the instance that the pet is habitually off your property, when not in your control, or the pet consistently barks and howls, disturbing the neighborhood, you can expect a possible citation for the violation by a police officer, or at a minimum a referral to the City Attorney’s office for prosecution. The police department will have on record if the owner has been warned of the violation in the past.
