Jan C. Thomsen is Director of Library for the City of Aurora. In this role, Jan holds overall responsibility for maintaining the library on all levels. Her responsibilities include planning, organizing and managing the services of the City Library; Directing programs to promote and publicize the Library within the community, and developing the services offered by the library to meet present and future community needs. Jan prepares and presents library budgets and works with the Library Board, other libraries, professionals, officials (at State and local levels), citizens, and community groups. While maintaining current knowledge of new developments in the library field, Jan selects and trains new library personnel and coordinates the continued training and development of staff members.
Working at the Library in Aurora since 1984, Jan began as a Library Clerk. She became Assistant Librarian in 1987 and was promoted to Director of the Library in 1996.
Jan is a member of the Aurora Area Chamber and Development Corporation, the Hamilton Community Foundation Board and Friends of the Library.
Jan enjoys reading as one of her hobbies. She lives in Aurora.
