As Superintendent of Recreation and Parks for the city of Aurora, James (Jim) Nietfeld holds overall responsibility for directing and executing work projects in many of the city’s key areas. Managing the Parks, Athletic Fields, Aquatic facilities, landscape, forestry, vegetation care, and education of parks and aquatic staff, Jim brings an extensive amount of experience and knowledge in the areas of agriculture and management.  

Jim’s previous career experience has been in Agriculture Management and Development in Paraguay, Venezuela and other parts of Central America. He has also held previous positions as Grain Processing Specialist and Dairy Herdsman in Nebraska. James has served as a board member for the American Red Cross and coordinates volunteer work days with the Aurora Middle School, the Probation office, the Law Enforcement office, Civic Organizations, Keep Nebraska Beautiful, Nebraska Forest Department and the American Red Cross.

A graduate of Kansas State University, Jim received his Bachelors of Science degree in Agriculture, with major studies in Animal Husbandry and International Agriculture Development. Jim lives in Aurora with his wife, Nellie.
